A Dark Spring portrays the last day in a young man’s life. A young man sits on a bench by the Reykjavik Lake, keeping a promise to his childhood love, a promise made fifteen years earlier. As the day grows old he still waits the long wait, in small hope of being reunited with his lost love. A young woman bearing remarkable resemblance to his young love seduces him to abandon the long wait, and his principles. By doing so, the young man pays the ultimate price.
Critical Reception & Ratings
A Dark Spring, a 2001 Icelandic drama directed by Hinrik Hoe Haraldsson, has received limited critical attention but appears to have resonated with some audience members. The film's melancholic portrait of a young man's final day has not been widely reviewed, but its IMDb rating of 7.2/10 suggests it may have found a niche following among viewers drawn to its contemplative, tragic themes.
